The Audi S4 is a four-wheel drive high-performance premium sedan of the mid-size class (segment "D" by European standards), which combines all the positive qualities of a family car, suitable for everyday use, but, if necessary, can transform into a full-fledged sports car (with appropriate "driving" characteristics ) ...

In all its glory, the "charged" four-door car with the in-house index "B9" appeared before a wide audience in September 2015 - at the stands of the International Frankfurt Auto Show, and its sales in the countries of the Old World began in the summer of 2016.

After the “change of generations”, the car was visually and structurally transformed in a single way with the civilian “a-fours”, got a turbocharged engine instead of the previous compressor “six”, changed the robotic transmission to “automatic” and became a little “nimble”.

The "fifth" Audi S4 looks attractive, noble and harmonious, and its "sporty essence" is emphasized by a more developed aerodynamic body kit, a pair of large-caliber "double-barrel" exhaust system, silver-gray touches (inserts in the front air intakes, mirrors, etc.) , 18- or 19-inch wheels of the original design and nameplates with the model name. Such "tricks" in no way spoiled the appearance of the sedan, but at the same time made it more aggressive and dynamic.

In length, the "es-four" extends to 4745 mm, in width it is 1842 mm, in height does not exceed 1404 mm. The center distance is 2825 mm for the car, and its ground clearance reaches 140 mm.

In the "stowed" state, the mass of the three-volume is 1630 kg.

Inside, the fifth generation Audi S4 meets riders with a classic, but at the same time progressive design with a virtual instrument cluster and an elegant center console - it is topped by a protruding 8.3-inch media center screen, under which an exemplary air conditioning unit is located. Well, against the background of "civilian brothers" the sedan stands out with a sports steering wheel, truncated at the bottom, decorative "intersperses" of brushed aluminum, combined trim and some other points.

In terms of cargo and passenger capabilities, the Audi S4, with the in-house marking "B9", is identical to the base model - it is capable of carrying five adults and 480 liters of luggage in the luggage compartment.

But it also has distinctive features - these are sports front seats with a developed relief, adjustable lateral support, optimal padding rigidity and a bunch of "benefits of civilization".

The engine compartment of the fifth incarnation of the Audi S4 is occupied by a 3.0-liter TFSI six-cylinder petrol engine with a V-shaped architecture, two turbochargers, exhaust and intake phase shifters, direct fuel injection and a 24-valve timing structure, producing 354 horsepower at 5400-6400 rpm / minute and 500 Nm of rotational potential at 1370-4500 rpm.

Nominally, the car is equipped with an 8-band hydromechanical "automatic" Tiptronic and an all-wheel drive transmission with a central self-locking differential, which in normal conditions distributes traction between the axles in the ratio "40:60" (but depending on road conditions, up to 70 % of the moment, and to the rear - up to 85%).

From a standstill to 100 km / h, the "charged" three-volume "catapult" after 4.7 seconds, and its maximum capabilities "rest" at 250 km / h (and for an additional fee - at 280 km / h).

In a mixed mode of movement, the car consumes about 7.3 liters of fuel for every "hundred" kilometers.

From a constructive point of view, the "fifth" Audi S4 repeats the "civilian" model - a modular platform MLB, made of high-strength steel, composite materials and aluminum, independent five-link suspension "in a circle" (optionally - with adaptive shock absorbers) and a rack and pinion steering gear with active electromechanical amplifier.

The hot sedan features a lowered chassis with tighter springs and shock absorbers, as well as a powerful braking system with ventilated disc devices measuring 350 mm at the front and 330 mm at the rear (they are clamped by six-piston and four-piston calipers, respectively).

On the Russian market, the Audi S4 (B9) is not officially sold, but in Germany it can be purchased at a price of 60,600 euros (~ 4.4 million rubles at the exchange rate for the summer of 2018).

The basic four-door configuration includes: six airbags, combined trim, full LED optics, 18-inch alloy wheels, premium audio system, dual-zone climate control, media complex, ABS, EBD, ESP, heated and electronic front seats, adaptive cruise control and the "darkness" of other modern equipment.
