The third generation Toyota MR2 (index "W30") began its serial history in the fall of 1999 at the Tokyo Motor Show, but its conceptual version called MR-S was first shown to the public there, in the capital of Tokyo, but in 1997.

Compared to its predecessor, the car has changed in all directions - it "put on" a new design, received a modernized technical "stuffing" and retained only one version of the body.

In 2002, the sports car underwent restyling, after which it was produced unchanged until 2007 - when it "retired".

The "third" Toyota MR2 is a two-seater roadster in the compact class that stretches 3886 mm in length, 1694 mm in width and 1240 mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2,451 mm, and the ground clearance does not exceed 130 mm.
The curb weight of the vehicle varies from 972 to 996 kg, depending on the type of transmission installed.

Specifications. For the Toyota MR2 (W30), a single petrol "heart" was announced - this is a four-cylinder, all-aluminum "aspirated" 1ZZ-FED with a volume of 1.8 liters with an in-line arrangement, multi-point "power supply", two overhead camshafts and 16 valves, generating 140 "Horses" at 6400 rpm and 172 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm.

All power from the engine was delivered to the rear wheels by means of a 5-speed "mechanics" or 6-speed preselective "robot".

The maximum capabilities of the Japanese roadster did not exceed 210 km / h, and the starting acceleration to the first "hundred" took from 6.8 to 8.7 seconds, depending on the modification.

The basis for the third generation Toyota MR2 is a rear-wheel drive chassis with a transversely mounted engine in the center. Both front and rear two-door "flaunts" an independent architecture with MacPherson struts, transverse stabilizers and steel springs.
The car is equipped with disc brakes on all wheels with ABS, and its steering system is formed by a rack and pinion complex and a hydraulic control amplifier.

The third "release" of the Japanese sports car boasts: original design, excellent workmanship, reliable construction, cool handling, excellent dynamics, affordable cost and good functionality.
Among its disadvantages are stiff suspension, cramped interior, decent fuel consumption, small trunk and low ground clearance.
