The first incarnation of the subcompact model called Hyundai Accent, which was made in the so-called biodesign key in demand in the first part of the 1990s, debuted in September 1994, replacing Excel. In 1997, the car underwent an easy update, having received a changed appearance based on its results, after which it was mass-produced until 2000, when a generation change took place (although in Egypt its assembly continued until 2006).

"Accent" of the first generation appears in the B-class according to the European classification and has a wide range of body modifications - a classic sedan, a two-door coupe, a three- or five-door hatchback.

The overall length of the car is 4100-4117 mm, the width and height are 1620 mm and 1395 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 2400 mm.

Under the bottom of the "Korean" there is a 120-mm ground clearance, and its curb weight varies from 953 to 975 kg.

Specifications. On the "first" Hyundai Accent, a wide range of atmospheric gasoline "fours" equipped with distributed fuel injection, with a working volume of 1.3-1.5 liters, generating 60-99 horsepower and 105-134 Nm of torque was used.
The delivery of power to the wheels of the front axle was entrusted to a pair of gearboxes to choose from - a 5-speed "mechanics" or a 4-speed "automatic".

The original "Accent" is based on a front-wheel drive platform with a transversely mounted engine and a supporting structure body. The suspension on the car is independent "in a circle": in the front, standard McPherson drains and an anti-roll bar are used, in the rear there are double wishbones and telescopic shock absorbers.
Steering "Korean" implies the presence of a hydraulic power steering, and the braking system - front discs with ventilation and rear drum devices (in the "top" versions - also ABS).

In the secondary market of the Russian Federation in 2018, such a car is offered at a price of 100 ~ 150 thousand rubles (depending on the equipment and condition of a particular instance).

The owners usually refer to the advantages of the first generation Hyundai Accent: compact size, affordable cost, inexpensive maintenance, comfortable suspension, low fuel consumption, fairly reliable design and excellent maintainability.

The disadvantages are most often ranked as: low sound insulation, low ground clearance, weak dynamics (applies to cars with 1.3-liter engines) and poor head lighting.
