The fourth incarnation of the Toyota Avalon was born in the spring of 2012 - its official premiere took place at the International Auto Show in New York: as a result of a "fictitious generational change", the car retained the same platform and engine, but received a more attractive design, hybrid modification and an expanded list of equipment.

In February 2015, the updated sedan made its debut at the Chicago Motor Show - the exterior was "refreshed", the interior was slightly corrected and a whole scattering of electronic assistants was installed.

The commercial release of the 4th generation triple volume ended in 2018 - when the next receiver was presented.

"Avalon" of the fourth generation acts in the "upper middle class" of cars (aka the "E" segment by European standards) and is 4961 mm long, 1834 mm wide and 1461 mm high. The wheelbase of the "Japanese" is 2819 mm, and its ground clearance is 127-140 mm.

The curb weight of the three-volume tank varies from 1571 to 1630 kg (depending on the modification).

For the "fourth" Toyota Avalon, two power plants are offered to choose from:

  • The basic versions are equipped with a petrol atmospheric "six" with a working volume of 3.5 liters with a V-shaped structure, distributed injection, variable valve timing and a 24-valve timing, which develops 277 horsepower at 6200 rpm and 346 Nm of rotational potential at 4700 rpm / minute.
  • The hybrid version "Hybrid" boasts a 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with multi-point "power", a 16-valve DOHC timing belt and a double variable valve timing mechanism, producing 154 hp. and 187 Nm of torque, a 49-horsepower electric motor and 1.6 kWh nickel-metal-hybrid traction batteries. The total output of the gasoline-electric drive is 203 horsepower.

The petrol version is equipped with a 6-band "automatic", and the hybrid - with a continuously variable CVT (all power reserves are supplied to the front wheels).

From a standstill to 100 km / h, the car accelerates in 7.4 ~ 8.2 seconds, gains maximum 185 ~ 210 km / h, and spends 5.9 ~ 9.4 liters of fuel for each "combined hundred" of mileage.

The fourth "release" Toyota Avalon is based on the front-wheel drive "Toyota K" architecture with a transversely oriented engine.

The sedan is equipped with independent suspensions of two axles with hydraulic shock absorbers and transverse stabilizers: in the front - of the MacPherson type, in the rear - a multi-link. As standard, it "flaunts" comfortable chassis settings, and as an option - sporty (more rigid).

All wheels of the three-volume are equipped with disc brakes (ventilated at the front) with ABS, and its rack and pinion steering complex is equipped with a power steering.

Toyota Avalon of the fourth generation was not officially delivered to Russia, and in the USA (as of the beginning of 2018) it was offered at a price of $ 33,500 (~ 1.9 million rubles) for the gasoline version and from $ 37,500 (~ 2.1 million rubles ) for hybrid performance.

Nominally, this car has: ten airbags, ABS, ESP, four power windows, leather trim, LED optics, 17-inch wheels, an infotainment complex, an audio system with eight speakers, dual-zone "climate" and other functionality.
