The second incarnation of the Volkswagen Scirocco three-door coupe made its official debut in 1981 - it was a significantly modified version of the original generation model + a new design.

In 1984, the car was slightly updated, both visually and technically ... after which it was mass-produced until 1992 (when it finally gave way to the Corrado model, which had been produced since 1987).

The "second" Volkswagen Scirocco is a three-door golf-class coupe and has the corresponding outer dimensions of the body: its length is 4050 mm, of which 2400 mm falls on the gap between the pairs of wheels, and the height and width reach 1280 mm and 1645 mm, respectively.

In the "stowed" state, the car weighs from 950 to 970 kg, depending on the version, and its ground clearance in this form does not exceed 125 mm.

On the second generation Sirocco, only gasoline four-cylinder "aspirated" were installed - these were 8- and 16-valve engines with a volume of 1.3-1.8 liters with carburetor or multi-point fuel injection, having 60-139 horsepower and 100-168 Nm maximum in their arsenal. moment.
They were combined with 4- or 5-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmissions, as well as a front-wheel drive transmission.

The second "release" of the Volkswagen Scirocco is based on the front-wheel drive design of the "Volkswagen Group A1". The car has independent suspensions on both axles: MacPherson struts and multi-link architecture front and rear, respectively.
The coupe is equipped with a "worm" steering mechanism, however, the control amplifier was not provided for it. Disc brakes are used on the front axle of the three-door, and drum devices in the rear (on the "top" versions, "pancakes" are used "in a circle").

The advantages of the second generation "Sirocco" are: good looks, strong and reliable design, high-quality level of performance, low cost of spare parts, good driving characteristics, excellent handling and decent dynamics.
The owners often refer to the disadvantages of the car: a cramped interior, poor sound insulation, a small gap under the "belly" and a solid fuel "appetite".
