The Audi Q3 Sportback is a front- or all-wheel drive coupe-like premium SUV of the compact segment, which boasts an expressive design, a progressive and solid interior, a normal level of practicality (even in spite of the form factor) and a productive technical "stuffing" ... At a special event in Ingolstadt, held on July 24, 2019, Audi presented a new coupe-crossover called the Q3 Sportback to the world community, which became a more "youthful and dynamic variation" of the Q3 SUV. them - common).

Interestingly, initially the SUV was supposed to get the name Q4, but the Germans decided to limit themselves only to the Sportback prefix, keeping the free index for the electric SUV.

From the outside, recognizing the Audi Q3 Sportback against the background of the standard model will not be difficult, and not only due to the swift silhouette with a sloping roofline and C-pillars heavily piled forward. A more “sporty essence” of the five-door is also given out by a predatory “face” crowned with a huge radiator grille with large honeycombs, and lean stern, flaunting graceful lanterns, a raised trunk lid with narrow glass and a powerful bumper with hidden exhaust pipes.

In terms of its dimensions, the Audi Q3 Sportback belongs to the class of compact SUVs: length - 4500 mm, height - 1560 mm, width - 1840 mm, distance between wheel sets - 2680 mm.

The curb weight of the coupe-like crossover varies from 1460 to 1695 kg, depending on the modification.

Inside, the coupe version of the Audi Q3 completely repeats the base model - a progressive design with the dominant screens of the instrument cluster and media center, impeccable ergonomics, exclusively premium finishing materials and a high level of performance.

According to the passport, the interior of the coupe-crossover is five-seater, but only two people will feel most comfortable in the back, and all because of the strongly protruding floor tunnel.

In the front part of the decoration, there are relief-profiled chairs with a pronounced side profile, moderately dense padding and a large set of adjustments, and in the back there is a comfortable sofa with a shortened central section and a backrest adjustable in angle, and as an option it can also be moved longitudinally within 130 mm.

With practicality, the Audi Q3 Sportback is in complete order: its trunk not only has the correct shape, but is also able to accommodate 530 liters of luggage in normal condition. "Gallery" folds in three parts in the ratio "40:20:40" in a completely flat area, as a result of which the volume of the compartment increases to 1400 liters.

For the coupe crossover, the same engines are offered as for the standard second generation Q3:

  • The petrol versions are equipped with TFSI in-line fours with direct injection, turbocharging, 16-valve timing and variable valve timing:
    • the base modification 35 TFSI relies on a 1.5-liter unit, generating 150 horsepower at 5000-6000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 1500-3500 rpm;
    • the more powerful versions 40 TFSI and 45 TFSI are equipped with a 2.0-liter engine: in the first case, it produces 190 hp. at 4200-6700 rpm and 320 Nm of peak thrust at 1500-4200 rpm; and in the second - 230 hp. at 5000-6700 rpm and 350 Nm of rotational potential at 1500-4400 rpm.

    • and for 40 TDI - 190 hp. at 3500-4000 rpm and 400 Nm at 1750-3250 rpm.

Both motors are rated at 150 hp. combined with a 6-speed "mechanics" and all-wheel drive transmission with a multi-plate rear wheel clutch or with a 7-band "robot" S tronic and driving front wheels, while more powerful options are assigned only a robotic box and four-wheel drive.

From standstill to 100 km / h, the coupe-crossover accelerates in 6.3-9.6 seconds, and reaches a maximum of 207-233 km / h.

In the combined driving mode, petrol versions require 5.9-7.6 liters of fuel for each "hundred" of the way, and the diesel version requires 4.9-5.7 liters.

Structurally, the Audi Q3 Sportback has no significant differences from the "second" Q3: modular "bogie" MQB with abundant use of high-strength steel and aluminum in the structure; independent suspension "in a circle" (MacPherson struts in front and four-link rear); rack and pinion steering with electric power assistance and progressive characteristic; ventilated disc brakes on all wheels.
